Week 12: Diverse Position Science Fiction

This week the topic that we read about what Diverse Position Science Fiction.
I sadly haven't put the time in to read much this week due to our finals coming up but we did end up reading a short story in class called Bloodchild. I wrote a questionnaire answers the questions posed during class, but thought a final writing about this story and the topic as a whole should be written.

In class today, we read "Bloodchild" A short story written by Octavia Butler in 1995. This story is very very odd, describing a very dysfunctional family. One that consists of two mothers and many children. Its described as having a mother who is in control of all the rest, asserting dominance in any situation and asking very strange and uncertain tasks of her 'kids'. I have read this work twice and still have trouble dissecting exactly what it is that its about but find it beyond fascinating. Its writing is so short in moments, which strange names plaguing the characters, almost hard to pronounce in my head, and uniquely odd and satisfying sentences. Definitely an interesting work to read.
